This is an awesome 2 part tutorial to help you achieve amazing mixes! Quick tips and tricks that you can keep in your back pocket that will work for any genre!
1. Frequency Analysis – We explain to you how to open up an EQ and look at the frequencies in your tracks to carve out space. As an example, if you open the bass and kick you can see which frequencies will dominate more. After visually seeing this you can start to carve out room.
2. Cutting out Frequencies below 100 Hz – This is the mother of all mix tips, and it is always great to go over. The low end frequency should be saved for Kicks and Basses and other low end sounds. Guitars, vocals, pianos, and many other sounds have low end frequency that can’t be heard, but they will muddy up your mix. It is always great to go through all your sounds and make sure that this frequency is cut out.
