U-He Zebra 2 - Evolving Soundscape Sound Design
This week we are going to continue on with the Evolving Soundscape we started a few weeks ago. This time i have nothing prepared and just go with the flow or “fly by the seat of your pants” sound design as i like to call it.
Hi There and welcome to this weeks Zebra tutorial from Soundmagus.
The first thing i do in this patch is move OSC 2 to the 2nd track/path in the synth creation window and make the MSEG (multi-stage-envelope-generator) the full length of the intro i am creating, which in this case is 16 bars. By moving OSC2 here we can have complete independence of the sound its creating and we can also decide which effects path we wish it to follow.
I also, in this Evolving Soundscape tutorial, decide to change the OSC2 waveset and replace the basic saw with the Bell Flipper factory wavetable set. This gives us more of an interesting sound-set to play with.
We also change some of the other MSEG parameters to make the sound evolve more and become more interesting over time.
Evolving Soundscapes aren’t particularly difficult to create and we make the process even easier by the inclusion of the Global LFO`s set to user mode. this allows us to draw in our own patterns which then add additional interest to any parameter we see fit to modulate with them
All in all, Evolving Soundscapes is an interesting exercise in modulation but not for modulations sake,l its following a definite purpose to keep the sound evolving over a very specific set of time, hope you enjoy it.
