How to make Beautiful Pads in U-he Zebra
In this video I will show you how to create beautiful pads in u-he Zebra. Although the pad is going to live in the background of your mix, it’s doing a lot more than you would think!
We start of by choosing our oscillators and filters, the filters are going to be important when you want to make pad sounds. Mainly because in most cases pads have some kind of ”frequency-function”. For example, you might want a little bit more highs in your track, or something that fills up the mid frequencies in the background, which helps tying everything together.
Pads are excellent for these kind of jobs! If you really want to use them in the best way possible, try scanning your song with a frequency analyser and check in what areas you are lacking. Once you know where the pad is going to hang out in the mix you can use the filters to shape it into position.
The Combfilter in U-he Zebra is especially great for this because it doesn’t make the sound too full while still adding a lot of character to it. Once all is set throw a reverb and some chorus effects on your master FX, and your done! Don’t forget that these effects will add frequencies after your filters, so always use EQ-ing on your channel as well! So a nice and easy sound this week, but with a lot of functions!
