In this tutorial, Echo Sound Works will show you how to create a polyphonic portamento effect in NI Massive using an envelope.
Some soft synths like Sylenth and Spire come with the option of applying portamento or glide to polyphonic sounds. Massive does not. To create a polyphonic portamento effect in NI Massive you have use a custom envelope and use the to control the pitch.
The first thing you need to do to create a polyphonic portamento effect in NI Massive is to use an available envelope that you can modulate the pitch of the oscillators with. Create a custom envelope shape that has an upwards slanting attack with a decay that will be dependent on what and how you’re playing. If you want to play shorter chords, then use a shorter decay time. If you want to hold out your chords for longer durations then use a longer decay time.
Once you have the envelope shape set up, modulate the pitch box of your oscillators anywhere from 4-7. If you go to high with the pitch amount, the affect won’t sound like glide, but more like a record scratch.
