In this tutorial, quickly learn how to create an aggressive percussive bass in Sylenth1. It’s a great sound for EDM and even Hardstyle.
This percussive bass in Sylenth1 is a great sound for drops. It has a lot character and you can play it in either quick sequences or actual baselines. It would actually work well in a Hardstyle song too.
It’s pretty straight forward to make. You only actually need to use one page or part to get the sound right.
First, The bulk of the sound is a Pulse wave blended with a detuned Sine wave to add some sub frequencies. To make the sound fit your needs, you could change out the Pulse wave with any of the others available to you in Sylenth.
I used Distortion to open up the Filters, instead of just using the Cut Off knobs. The reason I did this was to introduce some new harmonic content to the percussive bass in Sylenth. With the numerous distortion modules in Sylenth, this is a great technique to introduce some uniqueness to your sounds.
