Setting up Konkreet Labs Performer and Twisted Tools Scapes
Every once in a while we need to share something for a very specific segment of the community, and this is one of those posts. This helpful video tutorial shares how to go about setting up Konkreet Labs Performer mobile app so it can be used with Twisted Tools Scapes Reaktor ensemble. Once connected these two pieces of software can help transform you into a unstoppable performance freak! Allowing you to use just your fingers to manipulate sounds inside of Scapes makes for a much more intimate and intuitive experience and it definitely comes across in your music.
Konkreet Labs Performer app allows you to control up to 10 different nodes within Twisted Tools Scapes at any given time. To keep things easy to follow along with, and moving along at a nice pace, this lesson only shows how to set up one of those nodes. If you would like to use more, just double click in the upper right-hand corner of the Performer app and change the setting to a number that better suits your needs. Make sure your IP Address and Port numbers match up exactly inside of both applications and that is all it takes to allow them to communicate with each other.
If you right-click, within Twisted Tools Scapes, on a parameter you would like to map to your Performer app you will be presented with a few options. Select the corresponding properties option, in this case “Pitch1” Properties is clicked. Now, within the Properties window you need to select the corresponding Performer assignment from the OSC Source list, in this case 1/n1/x option is clicked. The same process is used to set up each parameter you wish to control via Performer. Have fun with this, and never stop experimenting!
