Making a Phrase Looper with NI Reaktor
Welcome to this weeks original Reaktor member tutorial. This week, Salamanderanagram creates a Phrase Looper using the Reaktor Audio Table Module!
In this weeks members tutorial, Salamanderanagram explores using the Reaktor’s Audio Table to create a Phrase Looper. A phrase looper allows you to loop music that has been played into it. This ensemble, based on the idea of guitar loop pedals (Digitech Jam Man, Boss RC series, Oberheim Echoplex), will allow you to record an audio signal and instantly loop up to four bars.
This ensemble is not for the faint of heart. Looping through recorded data takes a bit more math than usual, and a few more modules than a basic effect. Stick with it though! Learning to use Audio Tables properly can open a world of possibilities inside Reaktor.
The Audio Table module is at the heart of this ensemble. It’s WX input plays a significant role of the looper. Telling the Audio Table what portion of the table should be used to store the incoming audio. The mathematics involved in this set the sample rate and, thus, should not be overlooked!
We hope you enjoyed this tutorial. Feel free to post any questions or comments. We are always looking for new ideas for great tutorials, so we would appreciate feedback as well!
