MIDI Sequencing in 1986 - Short Film
With the luxury and sophistication of today’s DAW, it’s quite difficult to imagine making music with Micro Live, the original predecessor to Cubase from 1986. In this video, we watch its initial introduction to its MIDI sequencing capabilities, a process that is now integral to say the very least.
As you can tell from this historic video, the concept of MIDI and its respective functions were as puzzling and illusive as ever in 1986. Given this, it’s amazing to see the forward-looking vision toward computer-based music from thirty years ago. If it weren’t for this collective of people, who knows what today’s DAW would look like!
If you’re feeling nostalgic, grab some popcorn and watch this short-film from 1989, “How To Play Your Casio Keyboard.”
