Historic Computer-Controlled Synthesizer, Alles Machine In Action

In this video from TIMARA, a music school designated for the recording arts, we watch Judy Jackson’s 2016 performance using the Alles Machine, a historic computer-controlled synthesizer from the 1970’s.

In 1981, the instrument was donated to the TIMARA Department, although it was barely functioning and lay dormant till recently. TIMARA engineer, John Talbert, has repurposed the machine for future generations […]

As you can hear, the sounds that the Alles Machine generates are quite eccentric, sounding atypical from the usual chromatic-based sounds that we are so familiar with. It certainly would make for some nice atmospheric layers and/or special effects.
