Dalek Transformed Into A DIY Synth

If you’ve ever watched Doctor Who, you are most likely familiar with The Daleks, the robotic extraterrestrial race that is seen in the show. Well, Youtuber Marin Orman decided to turn one of his Daleks into a synthesizer using an Arduino.

From the video’s description, Orman explains:

I picked up this Dalek from a car boot sale so it’s a bit battered. I installed a synthesizer written onto an ATMEGA 328P chip (Arduino Uno clone that I built) inside. It runs on battery or 9v DC mains adapter in. There are two mono outputs i.e. 3.5mm and 1/4″.

From the impressive sound output to the overall implementation, this project is pretty dang incredible. Especially for a DIY synth, the sounds it creates are amazing. Granted, he has a couple effects running in Ableton.
