Creating A Synthesizer From Film Strips
During electronic music’s initial uprising in the 1960’s, there were many fascinating devices made. Among these include the Oramics Machine, using custom film strip graphics to create amplitude and frequency content necessary for audible sound.
This video features a resurfaced prototype of the Mini-Oramics, an extension of the Oramics Machine that’s geared towards musical purposes. Today, early innovations like the Moog synthesizer have become center stage, however, there are were many breakthroughs that continue to stay hidden beneath the cracks.
