Aphex Twin Unveils How He Made 'Vordhosbn'
Aphex Twin, an artist that many consider to be the Wizard of Oz of IDM for his instrumental, yet silent role in the genre’s development, has released this video via his Vimeo account that details how he made his popular track, Vordhosbn.
Prior to the traditional DAW’ that we’re familiar with today, electronic musicians would use a different type of software known as a tracker, and in that is what we see in this video from Aphex Twin – more specifically, a tracker known as Player Pro.
While there are many similarities between a tracker and the DAW, trackers provide more of a sample-based, command-oriented workflow that comprise the traditional pattern-sequences that we use in a DAW. If you’re looking for a more contemporary tracker software, Renoise is a great one to check out.
