Three Armed Drummer With Mechanical Limb
Imagine a drummer being able to play with not two, but three arms. Georgia Institute of Technology has brought this curiosity to life by building an attachable robotic limb which analyzes a drummer’s movements, as well as sounds it hears in the room.
The sophistication lies in the fact that the limb can intelligently compliment what the drummer is playing. For instance, if the drummer plays a pattern involving a hi hat cymbal, the mechanical limb might hit the ride cymbal. If a drummer had been busy with both arms, this would not have been possible, and that is why this piece of music tech is so cool. Read Georgia Tech’s article here.
