The Behringer RD-909 (TR-909 Clone) Will Cost $299
Uli Behringer, CEO of Behringer, has announced some exciting news about the upcoming RD-909, a clone of the vintage Roland TR-909 drum machine, which is via Gearslutz that it will cost $299 – the same price as the Model D and Neutron synthesizers.
Behringer’s original post states:
We like to give you an update on our RD-909 development. We have now entered TMS or Tool Made Sample stage which is one stage before pre-production.
We’ve built 10 units for final testing to ensure everything is perfect.
What you cannot see on the current artwork is that we have added even more functionality. One of our engineers came up with a brilliant idea to allow the sequencer to modulate the Analog Filter and Wave Designer.
We still need to ask for your patience as it will still take several more months to ship the product. The guys here are very excited and they work hard to speed up as much as possible!
We’re still targeting US$ 299 retail (depending on import tariffs).
A first look at the RD-909 below, albeit lacking a sound demonstration, debuts its various hardware features and integrations.
Although the specific release date of the RD-909 has yet to be announced (sometime in 2019), it’s $299 price tag is still some exciting news for those that have been following the clone’s developments carefully. It’s safe to assume that we can expect to hear of a release date very soon!
