In this video, composer Jason Graves takes us through the process of scoring popular video game, Far Cry Primal. Explaining the desired tonal qualities of the drums, the composer emphasizes the need for it to be abstract; to not resemble a particular culture or region. He feels that this would result in a more authentic experience for the game.

He continues to describe his belief that “less is more”, with respect to the music’s effect on various scenes in the game. Rightfully so, having that one powerful sound pop out at you can definitely make the gameplay more dramatic.
