In this article from The Verge, we get a glimpse into, what could be, the recovery of music industry-related revenues thanks to paid streaming.
“In the first half of 2016, the industry pulled in over $1 billion from paid streaming subscriptions. That’s basically already matching the $1.2 billion in revenue the industry collected from paid streaming in all of 2015…”
With the speed in which streaming services have grown over the past 5 years, many agreed that it would either make or break the music industry, particularly with respect to artist compensation. It sure would be great if an optimal revenue strategy can be made, as long as the the everyday listeners’ pockets don’t get sucked dry.
