How Does Music Affect Your Brain?
We’ve all heard of the benefits that music has on our mental health. But why is this so? This video on behalf of TED-Ed provides a few answers to this question, as well as exploring the dichotomy between listening to music versus actually playing and writing it.
Something that we learned is that, while playing music, multiple regions of our brain become engaged simultaneously, including our auditory, visual and motor processing skills. Additionally, we learn that composing music creates a bridge between our analytical and creative abilities, helping the brain to perceive its environment from different angles.
