Creating An Upright Bass Using UHe Zebra 2
In this tutorial I show you how to create an Upright Bass patch. This patch albeit basic is an awesome starting point for creating a plethora of unique “acoustic/synthesized” bass hybrids as well as authentic sounding acoustic bass.
HI Guys, Firstly I would Like to say hope you all had a happy new year and are looking forward to 2014.
So for this installment i have created a basic upright bass sound which was requested in the Zebra Facebook page.
This is a relatively simple sound to create which can be changed and adapted to suit your needs.
Firstly we start with an FMO (Frequency Modulation Oscillator). We use this to create a squelchy pitch drop type sound with a fast aggressive attack which will work later on as the pluck type sound.
The filter used for this upright bass sound is an old LP (low Pass) called LP Old Drive which seems to work best for this.
There is some cuttoff modulation and volume modulation used here also.
Finally in this upright bass sound we use a comb filter. the comb filter gives use the overall sound of this type of instrument and really gives us some excellent opportunities with minimum tweaking to get this sound really adaptive.
All in all a great patch with many practical applications, enjoy.
