Designing Kick Drums with Zebra is one of the most fundamental electronic music production skills that anyone who is creating this type of music should understand.
This is a short video showing how to create a basic kick drum patch using u-he`s zebra synth.
Put simply the patch shown uses 1 Oscillator, 2 Envelopes both Amplitude and Pitch (tune) to create a percussive sounding sine wave which is then shaped into a kick like audio file using the envelope amount, the tuning (pitch) amount and the 2 most important aspects, the decay and sustain settings of both envelopes.
U-He`s synth Zebra does this very well and although this is only a basic kick drum patch it gives you an excellent starting point to creating as many different kick drums as there are genres of electronic music to be enjoyed.
