Yamaha Montage - FM Manipulation in Real Time

In this video from Youtuber Earmonkey Music, we watch a demonstration of how the Yamaha Montage synthesizer can perform FM modulation in real-time. Given the sophisticated signal-algorithm processes that take place with FM, it’s clear that the FM-X engine in the Montage is quite powerful.

Here is a little demo showing how easy it is to manipulate the FM-X engine of the Yamaha Montage in real time. All FX and synth are from the Montage. Drums are courtesy a TR8 and Simmons SDS 8 controlled from the Beatstep Pro that acts as master clock.

As you can hear, the instrument-emulative sounds that the Montage generates sound nearly-close to real. When combined with a great player with excellent articulation, one may not be able to tell the difference between the real instrument, such as a bass guitar, and the synthesized versions heard in the video.
