This MIDI Kit Turns The World Into An Instrument
We’re all familiar with using MIDI controllers to communicate with our software macros and parameters…but using MIDI to communicate with organic instruments in the real world is a whole different ball game, and the dadamachines automat toolkit makes this possible.
The core of dadmachines’ functionality is its central automat controller, taking MIDI input and producing a total of 12 DC outputs that can be connected to just about any hardware environment. Additionally, given the diverse variety of hosts that can produce MIDI signals, there are really no limits for what dadamachines can do. Examples include being able to trigger automated percussion instruments from a MIDI pattern, trigger tempo-synced light displays for live performance, or even use MIDI to control electricity in your home!
dadamachines has definitely harnessed its share of supporters, with its Kickstarter page nearly doubling it’s original pledge goal of $21,633. The automat controller is expected to deliver September 2017 and you can purchase it now for €169.
