This Algorithm Creates "String Plucks" With Filtered Delays
Synthesizers, particularly modular synthesizers, have an impressive capability to recreate acoustic sounds, hence the process being referred to as “sound synthesis.” In this video, we explore the Karplus-Strong algorithm, a method that uses filtered delays to simulate the sound of a stringed instrument.
While this process is quite sophisticated, the general gist is that by maximizing the speed of the delay effect, in addition to pushing the feedback, a short decay is added to the sound, replicating the short decay of a plucked string instrument.
