In this video seminar, we receive valuable insight into the history of audio synthesis programming from early pioneers Max Mathews and John Chowning. Creating programming languages that simulate psycho-acoustics was their core purpose, and evident by our technology today, they did so quite successfully.

When looking at music tech through the lens of the modern era, it’s difficult not to admire the hard work and dedication that these two put forth into audio programming. Our favorite audio plugins wouldn’t be around without them.
