Inside MUTEK 2016: VR Headsets, Performances And More

MUTEK, an annual 5-day event that takes place in Montreal, is designed to bring together the world’s leading audio-visual artists for discussions, artist showcases, and more. Ultimately, their goal is to allow artists to communicate and express themselves in a forward-looking, innovative environment.
Among the discussions that took place at this year’s event, the exploration of virtual reality (VR) technology was one topic that captivated the attention of its attendees. Given VR’s sophisticated implementation, there are numerous challenges, practical and conceptual, that such technology presents.
As far as VR’s integration with electronic music, there is obviously much left to be explored. However, events like MUTEK bring us one step closer to new, exciting innovations.
