Renowned jazz drummer and producer Carl Allen recalls studio experiences throughout his career. He also explains how his early introduction to audio engineering would shape his craft as a musician.
Allen, a novice to sound design at the time, recollects a confusing moment with his engineer: “he was on the floor with a knife about to cut a hole in my bass drum head.” It was at that moment when he knew he needed to learn more about sound design, he explains.
