Building a Paper Cup Microphone On a $10 Budget
In this video from Youtuber LeoMakes, we see how a very lo-fidelity microphone can be built with materials that sum to less than $10: a paper cup, electrical wire, magnets, and perhaps most importantly, some patience and dedication!
From the video’s description:
Yes–it’s true! You can make a microphone out of a paper cup, some magnets and some wire. It’s definitely not going to replace any of my (or your) studio mics, but it’s a fun lo-fi DIY project. Did I mention it was less than $10?
While this DIY mic is certainly something you wouldn’t use in a typical studio recording setting, it is still fun nonetheless to watch him build it, and now you know that you can too. Lo-fi is the next new thing anyways, right? You can visit the LeoMakes Youtube channel for more awesome DIY music tech videos.
