Behind The Sound Design Of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
In this video from Sound On Sound, we explore the inner workings of the sound design for the latest Star Wars film, Rogue One. The film’s musical score is of course incredible, but it’s fascinating to dive deeper into the foley of the film….those meticulous, faint sounds that make each scene feel authentic.
We receive detailed insight into Rogue One’s sound design from Christopher Scarabosio and Matthew Wood, both of whom were the film’s supervising sound editors. Something that we found especially interesting is with how they made the ship sounds (~23:30), ultimately recording the starting up of a 10 year old diesel engine and processing the sound accordingly.
