In this Tutorial i show how to make “Jubei” Style Sub Bass.

This is following up on a personal request i had. in the tracks of his i listened to they wall all really deep and clean Sub Basses, but in places the opened up using filter modulation to reveal a more gritty brighter sound. This is what i wanted to achieve with this patch.

To get the main body of the sub i used 2 classic wave-forms commonly used for sub basses, a Sine and a Square. There’s no real secret in making a good sub bass. just make sure you are pitched down by 2 octaves and cut off as much from the highs as you can with a low pass filter!!
To get the grit in the sound as it opens up i used another classic waveform wave 39. two types of distortion were used , a light distortion between filter one and two. and onion overdrive in the effects section. because the sound is cut off really low with the filters , you only hear these and the other effects use as the filter opens. I assigned both the filters to open with the mod wheel so you can open and close the sound whilst playing the sound live! These type of evolving Sub basses are growing more popular to the “Dark” drum and Bass producers. you can vary the sound up yourself by changing the wave form used in oscillator 3. as long as you stick to the sine / square combination for oscillators 1 and 2.
