Streamline browsing upcoming tracks with the Traktor preparation playlist

In this tutorial, we use Traktor’s preparation playlist.

Traktor’s preparation playlist has special properties. Within the browser, any track can be added to the end of the preparation playlist by right clicking on it and choosing “Append to Preparation Playlist.”  Tracks can also be added to the beginning or top of the preparation playlist by right clicking on it and choosing “Add as Next to Preparation Playlist.” We can even map either of these commands to MIDI controllers, allowing us to use the preparation playlist workflow without touching the computer keyboard.

Using preparation playlist, we can streamline the process of browsing for upcoming tracks. Instead of looking for a new track between every transition, or browsing through one’s entire track collection, we can instead add tracks to the preparation playlist in batches. This allows us a very fast and reliable workflow for mixing.
