Wavetable Synthesis vs. Subtractive Synthesis.

Are you looking to expand your horizons from one type of synthesis to another? Confused about the definition and differences between subtractive and wavetable synthesis? Or, maybe you’re just starting out and curious to know which type of soft synth is “better”?

If you Google Sylenth vs Massive, a TONNE of results come up. A ton of opinions will also come up, some arguing that Sylenth is better than Massive and vice versa. The truth is, these synths shouldn’t be seen as direct competition to each other because the way in which they fundamentally generate sound is different.

This course explains not only why but also what, when and how to use wavetable synthesis and subtractive synthesis to craft your own signature sounds.

Listen, Learn & Truly Understand

In this course, experienced tutor, Echo Sound Works explains the key differences between a Subtractive style synth and a Wavetable Synth. He’ll also show you when to use them; and teach you new ways to make awesome sounds with both.

For demonstrative purposes we’ll be using Massive and Serum to illustrate wavetable synthesis and Sylenth as an example for subtractive synthesis.

Of course, there are tonnes of other synths that fit into either of these two categories or fall into a hybrid option. Either way, once you gain a full understanding of the fundamentals, you’ll find sound design far quicker and easier.

Course Overview

Over the course of 7 dedicated tutorial videos you’ll discover how to implement different sound design techniques and create and intuitive workflow with both types of synthesis.
