How to compose a beat on Maschine

In this 4 part tutorial series learn how to build a beat on Maschine.

Main Instruments – In part 1 of this series for Maschine, learn how to begin a composed beat by developing the main instruments. Topics include melody formation, pattern recording, layering melodies, and pattern development. Stay tuned for the next parts in the series!

Adding Drums – In part 2 of this series, I add drums to the instrument patterns sequenced in the previous video. First, I go through the sound design of each drum sample, explaining the effects and overall layout. Then, I record the drum patterns for the verse and chorus.

Bass and Mixing – In part 3 of the series, learn how to create bass patterns that fit with the different sections of your project. Afterwards, I do some quick mixing, covering topics such as sidechain compression, panning, and gain adjustment.

Arranging – In the final part of the series, learn how to arrange, edit, and create new patterns to build up a final track. Topics include scenes, arranging theory, and transitions.
